Earth Day CelebrationsEvery year the VEC celebrates Earth Day in Verona. On 2014 and 2013 the commission organized a cleanup at two locations in Verona to help keep the Peckman River clean by removing trash and debris from the surrounded areas.
On 2012 the VEC distributed free fabric canvas bags with Verona's logo as well as Township recycling bins and barrels at the Verona Recycling Center.
During these events residents bring to the Recycling Center: corrugated cardboard, glass and plastic bottles and containers, cans, mixed paper, telephone
books, batteries, a lot of electronic equipment, white goods and metal items. And they also fill up the clothing and
shoes collection container.

Recycling Pledge TreeMore
than 200 residents signed the VEC's “Recycling Pledge Tree” posters
during the Earth Day event, showing their support and recycling commitment. This is a great way to celebrate the Anniversary of Earth Day!
Recycling BinsTwo hundreds green and more than one hundred and fifty blue recycling containers were distributed -one per family. One resident confessed that he used his old one for 16 years
before picking up a new one. Many residents sign the pledge without
taking a bin home since theirs are still in good condition.

The VEC would like to thank Mike Inglesino, Recycling Center Supervisor, for helping all day during the event. Posters teaching how to reuse and recycle plastic shopping bags were displayed, encouraging to use reusable cloth bags instead. Thank you all for such a wonderful celebration!
