Verona streets will open up for a big party on Oct. 8th
Open Streets programs temporarily open streets to people by closing them to cars. 
Walk, run, bike, stroll, skate, scoot or skateboard!
Activities
A free, public and recreational event with all kinds of family-friendly fun. The Verona Conference of SCAs will hold a fundraiser from 1 to 6 pm with school bands playing live, the Touch-a-Truck program, and food trucks. In addition, Sustainable Verona, the Verona Environmental Commission, and the Verona Police Department joined forces to organize several fun activities: a Verona community bicycle ride or run, bicycle mechanics with free inspections, cycling skills and safety clinics, and an obstacle course open for riding. The 3 mile family-friendly bicycle ride or run begins and ends on the corner of Fairview Avenue and Sampson Drive. Pre-registration is strongly suggested. Participants will start lining up at 2:30 pm and the town ride, led by the Verona Police Department, will begin at 3:00 pm, and take participants through part of the West Essex Trail and over the Peckman River via Franklin Street (see the complete route on Google Maps). People are invited to enjoy the ride at their own pace.

The Schedule
1:00 pm- Check-in and late registration - Bicycle mechanic open for bike inspections.
2:00 pm- Mountain Biking skills clinic (helmets are required)
2:30 pm- Cycling Safety clinic (Verona Police Department)
3:00 pm- Town Ride/Run (3 miles) Begins & Ends on the corner of Fairview Avenue and Sampson Drive 
4:00 pm- Verona Kids Mountain Bike demo
4:30 pm- Parent’s on Kids bikes race
2 pm to 6 pm Obstacle course open for riding, vendors, informational tents and much more!
Who can Participate?
Everybody, all ages and abilities welcome! Bring your balance bikes, mountain bikes, bmx, hybrids, tricycles, big wheels, training wheels, roller-blades, scooters, skateboards, any size. If you can ride it, you can use it! Signed waiver is required to participate. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and wear helmets to bike, skate, skateboard or scoot. Not interested in riding? No problem, plenty of fun times on foot can be had!

Town Ride
Verona Police officers will lead the bicycle ride at a comfortable pace. See map route below. The route will be marked on the pavement with temporary chalk paintPart of the ride goes on a flat area of the West Essex Trail.
